Hampshire Junior Chess Association is organising a Hampshire Junior Open Congress on Sunday, October 6th at Winchester College, Hampshire for which the prize fund has been doubled and more than doubled for the best girl player in each category.
The event is an open event and players from outside the county are also welcome to participate.
As things stand next season’s Southampton Chess League is likely to operate with 27 teams, 1 fewer than last season, with Salisbury running one fewer team than in 2018/19. This is likely to mean three divisions of six teams and two of five teams, although it is not as yet clear which will be the five-team divisions. It is likely however that if both divisions 4 and 5 run with six teams that there will be no Division 5 or Division 4/5 Cup next season.
