Wins on the top three boards earned Fareham A their third win in a row to establish them as early season leaders in Division 1 despite being promoted through the back door last season. Wins against University C and Winchester C in the same week has established Ringwood C as the early season leaders in Division 4.

The division 2 matches Winchester A -v- Hamble B and Southampton C -v- Salisbury B finished all square, while there were also wins for Salisbury B and Chandlers Ford D.

David Welch who for many years was the ECF chief arbiter has died at the age of 74.
