Arbiters Decision

The previously adjourned match against Shropshire has now been adjudicated as a draw with both teams scoring 6 points. This draw confirms Shropshire as taking second place in our group. The adjourned match was previously reported at https://www.hampshirechess.co.uk/hampshire-v-shropshire-adjourned/

Match Arbiters Ruling

The arbiters ruling is:
Board 4:  Hampshire (B) 1 – 0 def Shropshire (W)
Board 7:   Hampshire (W) 0 def – 1 Shropshire (B)

The players who sent the wrong challenge and had responsibility to send the challenge default the match as it’s not their opponents fault and neither match had played 10 moves.

I appreciate the decision is hard on players who make an innocent mistake and tried to put it right – but it would be more unfair for the opponents to lose. Also, I recommend that players message each other if they notice the wrong time control (before ending the current game).

I will issue the advice for the Championships stage and reiterate the importance of communication having allowed game chat.

The match score is 6-6 With Shropshire taking second place in the Group.
