Disabled Chess Players

The 1st FIDE World Junior Chess Championship for the Disabled is an event for disabled chess players who are under 20 years old as of June 22, 2017. Each relevant chess association (IBCA, IPCA, ICCD) regulates the conditions of their participation.  The tournament will be an individual open event with special recognition to the top players under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 & 20.

A team may represent a National Federation. All the players of a team must be members of the same federation. National Federations must have at least two players to make a team, although no maximum number of players. The top three scores of team members will count as the team score for championship purposes.

The competition will be played as a 7-round Swiss tournament.  90 min/40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move 1. Default time at the beginning of all rounds will be 30 minutes.

If anyone is interested in going, please contact the Director of Junior Chess and Education so that the English Chess Federation (ECF) can consider endorsing your individual registration (as per the regulations).  ECF Officials may be contacted via:
