Salisbury C’s 3.5-0.5 win against Chandlers Ford B has clinched the division 4 title, the first league title to be decided this season. In division 2 Southampton C’s surprise win over Basingstoke and Hamble B’s whitewash of Winchester A has made Hamble B strong favourites to win the Division 2 title. Southampton C moved further clear of the bottom of the table with a 4.5-0.5 win against Winchester A for whom it has not been a good week.

In division 1 Salisbury A are certain to finish bottom of the table, but they claimed a second successive win after University defaulted. The match between Winchester D and Southampton D finished all square and represented Winchester’s 4th draw of the season and Southampton’s 6th.

In division 5 Ringwood C established themselves as clear favourites to win Division 5 with a 3.5-0.5 win against their nearest rivals Salisbury D.

Ringwood chess club are organising a rapidplay event which will be held this Sunday from 9.45 to 17.00 at the Greyfriars Community Centre in Ringwood, Entry is £16, but that includes refreshments and there is a generous prize money fund.
