The Fareham B team that played a recent match with University C had an average age of 82, with three players in the 80’s making it one of the oldest teams in Southampton Chess League history. Whereas the University C team consists mainly of students.

There were wins for Salisbury A, Basingstoke A, Chandlers Ford A and Basingstoke C recorded in the fortnight before Christmas.

Division 2 of the Southampton Chess League remains very tight with only one point separating the five teams.

A happy Christmas to all our readers.
