In division 5 of the Southampton Chess League Chandlers Ford D whitewashed Chandlers Ford C. Two of Chandlers Ford C’s strongest players Peter Eales and Manoj Chandar were unavailable, while the D team were virtually at full strength. On the same night at the Chandlers Ford club four additional games were played for grading purposes only and a photo has been taken of the evening’s chess.

It has generally been a good week for away teams with Hamble winning the top of the table match against Fareham thanks to wins on the bottom two boards, in division 2 Salisbury A’s victory over Ringwood B has moved them to the top of division 2, while Andover A increased their lead at the top of division 3 with a victory against their nearest rivals Salisbury B. The match between Winchester C and Andover B finished all square at 2-2.
