Website Updates

Homer Plays Chess

We have recently made several changes to the website which we hope visitors will enjoy. We have also added to the range of news stories whilst maintaining a focus on events within Hampshire and Clubs affiliated to HCA.

Game Archive
Other recent changes include adding around 1,100 games for download, these may be seen on our games page at http://www.hampshirechess.co.uk/games/ A special thanks goes to Arthur Brameld for supplying chess game databases for this page.

Featured Games
We have begun a series of featured games showing classic games by Hampshire players over the years. If you would like to annotate a game and email it us we can publish it for you. These games are shown online in a game viewer with a link to download the game and annotations if desired.

Junior Chess
Junior Chess is now managed by the Hampshire Junior Chess Association which is affiliated to HCA. Their website is at http://www.hjca.org.uk/ but we will carry Junior Chess news as it becomes notified to us. We wish HJCA great success in their new venture.

Player Grades & Tournament Calendar
We have removed the Chess Calendar and Player grades as we now provide links directly to the ECF pages for the latest information covering upcoming tournaments and player grading.

Hampshire Chess Clubs
We are offering to expand the amount of information covering local chess clubs affiliated to Hampshire, ideas include –

  • adding club website information to the club page at http://www.hampshirechess.co.uk/clubs/
  • adding a separate webpage to this site for those clubs that do not have a website or those clubs wishing to provide a greater amount of detail than at present.
  • publicising local tournaments and competitions held by clubs.
  • Cubs affiliated to Hampshire wishing to add content to this site are invited to contact the webmaster.
