Institute of Chess

This is a free downloadable chess course, in five parts, produced with the backing of (and contributions by) Grandmaster Chris Ward with the assistance of Peter Bayliss and others.

Institute of Chess (IoC) aims primarily to raise the standard of chess education in the UK and, as a consequence, to reverse the low level of recognition of chess by the education authorities.

These courses are suitable for players up to County Open level, junior or adult. Novices can soon take Level 1. Even quite strong, experienced players can further improve from studying Level 5.

20/10/2010: A previous version of the course suffered some computer glitches making printing difficult. I understand that the content has been updated, and the printing glitch has now been fixed.

ECF Certificate of Excellence a long-standing and respected training scheme.

ECF Certificate of Merit - run by International Master Andrew Martin, sponsored by Liverpool Victoria, launched in March 2010 and intended by the ECF to be a more comprehensive package than the "Certificate of Excellence"
