Southampton Chess Club was founded in 1883 and is the largest Chess Club in the Southampton area.
The club meets on Tuesday evenings, 7.00-10.30 p.m., September to May inclusive (except between Christmas and New Year), at the St. Denys Community Centre (next to the Junction Inn ), Priory Road, St. Denys, Southampton, SO17 2JZ.
If you're coming for the first time, please arrive as soon after 7 p.m. as possible - we'll then have plenty of time to meet you prior to when games start (usually around 7.25).
The club runs regular competitions, including a "Club Championship", a "Knockout Competition", and has occasional speed chess evenings.
As well as the club's internal competitions, we enter teams of varying strengths into the Southampton League, and there are also opportunities for local players to participate in local tournaments and County Matches.
