About Hampshire Chess Association

The Hampshire Chess Association (HCA) was formed in 1890 and serves as the coordinating body for organised chess in Hampshire.

Two local leagues, for the Southampton and Portsmouth areas, and the Hampshire Junior Chess Association (HJCA) are affiliated to the HCA. The HCA is in turn affiliated to the English Chess Federation (ECF), the West of England Chess Union (WECU), and the Chiltern League.

The HCA organises a combined open Congress and Hampshire Individual Championships every year, usually in Eastleigh in early November. It also selects Hampshire teams to play against other county teams both nearby and nationally.

The rules of the HCA can be found at Rules of the Hampshire Chess Association.
