Solent Individual Rapidplay Championship

The Solent Individual Rapidplay Championship was played at Emsworth Chess Club every week during June, July and August 2007, with 26 players from Portsmouth and Southampton taking part, the Championship was won by Dominic Tunks and the Major was won by Paul Eyles. The format was players play two half hour games against each other one as white and one as black, with everyone starting on zero points your score goes up if you win, but goes down if you lose.

The final round was particularly close this year with H.Lwambula in the lead and D. Tunks and P. Eyles equal second any one of whom could have won the Championship in the final round, H. Lwambula drew one and lost one to K.Eyles, D.Tunks drew one and won one against E. Davies and P.Eyles lost one and won one against S. Roberts. The outstanding performance this year was by Paul Eyles.

I would like to thank everyone who took part and say that next year's championship will again be held at Emsworth Chess Club during June, July and August.

The South West Sussex Chess League will be holding a Team Blitz Championship for
South West Sussex League teams, and invited Portsmouth and Southampton League teams. It will be held at Waterlooville on a Sunday in April next year.
