The Division Four title was a two horse race between Fareham and Cosham C. Fareham won two of the three matches between the teams (the other being drawn) which was the deciding factor. |

Chichester C
Chichester C gave a lot of club players games, using 13 players in total during the season. M.Plumb and H.Purchase were the pick of the players, which H.Purchase winning all three games he played. The selection policy for Chichester is an excellent one in my opinion, as it allows all players to play competitive chess. |

Cosham C
Cosham C were always challenging for the promotion spot, but Fareham proved too strong in the end. Bob Treloar, Peter Dallas and L.Stubbs had the best season, with L.Stubbs being the pick of these. This was as he played 10 points stronger than his grade and only lost the one game. |

Fareham
Fareham had the advantage of their two strong players (Joe Coburn and Dave Elliott) at the top, but also benefited from A.Syes playing six games. This gave them the strength in the middle to win the matches. These played all scored over 80%, with Dave Elliott in particular being brutal in only dropping two draws from 8 games. The other players held their own, which saw Fareham return to division two,, one year after being relegated. |

Portsmouth B
Portsmouth seem to be attracting a lot of new players, as can be seen from all the ungraded players in the above table. This is very pleasing to see and bodes well for Portsmouth Chess Club's future. N.Ratanalaorng did well with his wins including ones against strong players Peter Dallas I.Richardson. S.Roberts also scored over 50% and should be pleased with his performance. |
