In the end Chichester C won by 1 game point from Victory, with both teams obtaining 11 match points, This was a shame for Victory, as after they just lost out to Gosport C last season.

With Division Three having a lot of ungraded players, this is not the most accurate gauge of strength, but on the whole the stronger teams came out with the highest average.

As with Chichester B in division two, Chichester C used a lot of players (fourteen in total!). They normally had W.Partridge or K.Davies on the top board, which usually helped the team get a point in, as these two players only dropped half a point between them all season. W.Partridge helped especially, as his two wins against Pay McEvoy of Victory helped Chichester win these matches 4 - 2. These were the only losses that Victory had all season.

In addition to these two players, P.Wake, G.Cox and M.Eaves had excellent seasons. With the number of players Chichester have, it should not be a problem them having two teams in Division Two next season.

Although they finished in 4th position, Cosham C had an excellent season, with several players playing above their grades, They managed to win and lose against Chichester and Emsworth but lost both matches against Victory. They beat Fareham B in both games.

LStubbs played well, as did Peter Dallas, Brian Grant and N.West. Peter Dallas was certainly undergraded this year and his fine results for Cosham will see his grade return to where it was a couple of seasons ago.

Emsworth C finished just above Cosham C in third place and like the two top teams only lost the two matches, but drew three. They were particularly successful against the division winners, Chichester wining and drawing the two matches.

D.Ansell, D.Shotton both played well this season as did veteran HughStorr-Best who won both his games. Emsworth C also had the distinction of three members of the same family playing for them, with J.Mach and his two sons. I am not sure how many other families have managed this, but the only one I can think of in Hampshire would be Stephen LeFevre, who's Father and Brother have both played in the Portsmouth league in the past.

Fareham B struggled this season, but they were not white-washed, drawing one match against Emsworth C. Patrick Waller scored 50%, which was the best performance by a Fareham B player this season. Surprisingly Patrick did not play on top board, as he seems to be the strongest player in the B team.
