Some amendments to the Events page and Hampshire Congress page have been made, including corrections to the details of trophies and cups awarded.

Also, details of the Bournemouth BiCentenary Tournament and the Jonathan Latham Memorial Congress (in Bristol) have been added to the Events page.

An Events Page is now available, showing both firm and tentative (marked by a question-mark) events.

A new page giving details of the the forthcoming Hampshire Congress is directly linked from the menu-bar above. To access the page that contains details of results of previous congresses, there is a link at the bottom of the new page.

The web-site menu structure will be revised shortly, giving direct access to both pages (amongst other changes)

The Hampshire Congress will be held in Eastleigh College from Friday 12th November to Sunday 14th November.

The application form is available in either Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat formats. Copies have been posted to previous entrants.

Further details will be available shortly.

26 Aug 10 Fraser McLeod has supplied analysis tables of the results of members of the Hampshire Correspondence team over the last 15 years (also available from a link on the County Correspondence page).

Ward Higgs County Correspondence Chess Championship

Fraser McLeod reports that results are now available for all games by Hampshire players for the 2009-10 season.

It looks like we will finish in 8th place out of 12 teams, so not a particularly good season compared with recent years where we have been 3rd/4th.

CHANGE OF VENUE FOR SOUTHAMPTON CHESS CLUB:

 

From now on meetings of Southampton Chess Club, whilst still at premises of the "Oasis Academy" will now be at the "Lower School Site", the address being:

Here's a map showing both the Upper School site (the old club location - don't go there!)
and the Lower School site (the club location from now on)

 

The Chess Club AGM will be on  Tuesday 7th September 2010 starting at 7.30 pm.

 

The following Tueday will be friendly games and a committee meeting to sort out Teams.

The lightning tournament will be on Tuesday the 21st and Tuesday the 28th will see the start of the Club Championship

Spectrum Chess will be holding their "5th Portsmouth Congress" on Saturday and Sunday 25th and 26th September 2010 at the Hilton Hotel, Eastern Road Farlington, Portsmouth.

Will be held at Gordano Community School, St. Mary's Road, Portishead, Bristol. BS20 7QR.

Fareham Chess Club:

Rob Davies reports the key outcomes from the 63rd AGM were:-

 

1)  New Constitution Rules (replacing those agreed in 1983) & new Roles of Officers (replacing those issued in 1996) were approved.

Note:- These should be added shortly to the Fareham Chess Club website

 

2) Officers elected were:-

        President - Rob Davies

        Vice President - Dave Elliott

        Secretary - Joe Coburn

        Treasurer - Bill Curry

        Web Master - Ted Black

        Tournament Organiser - Rob Davies

 

3) That Fareham C should accept promotion to Division 2, recgonising that as a result Fareham B would be relegated to Divison 3.

 

4) Team Captains for 2010/2011 will be:-

        League 1 Team (A Team) - Dave Elliott

        League 2 Team (C Team) - Ted Black

        League 3 Team (B Team) - Rob Davies

       Cole Cup A Team - Tony Corkett

       Cole Cup B Team - Rob Davies

        Rapidplay (*) A Team - Ted Black

        Rapidplay (*) B Team - Matt Chapman

(*) Assuming, given Dave Elliott's resignation as Rapidplay Controller, that there will be a Rapidplay League in 2010/2011
