1987 - 1988  County Matches Analysis

 

Hampshire came 3rd in the West of England County division and therefore failed to qualify for the BCF Finals stage. Two losses by the narrowest of margins against Devon and Glocestershire saw to this and these were the teams that finished in 1st and 2nd places respectively. The B team did slightly worse and scored 50%, this included a match against Devon, where we only had seven boards though! 

 

In the Player Performance table, I've highlighted in Red the players that performed over 200, of which there were 2. The best performance by a Hampshire player was by Martin Newbury, who remained unbeaten in his six games, playing on board four in the A team. His wins included one against a players graded 204 for Wiltshire. Other players who had a good season included M.C.Hagan, J Hopkins, PD Miller, David Neil,  S J Kent, Andrew Smith, H Prior and Ian Stenhouse.
