1975 - 1976  County Matches Analysis

 

Another good season for the Hampshire A team, only losing once to Gloucestershire and winning close games against Devon and Dorset. The B team did not fare as well, only getting a 50% score.

 

Not all the grades were available to me, so the grading performance may not be complete. Still players that had a good season included M.Thompson, Stuart Dean, Dave Bell, D.Bower and Glenn Lambert. The two players with a performance over 200 are highlighted in Red.

 

Glenn Lambert was a strong junior who as far as I can tell drifted out of the game (certainly in Hampshire). Searching through Chessbase, he reached an ELO grade of 2440 and managed to beat players of the strength of GM Eugenio Torre (2550), but I can't find much else about him after 1979. Here is the game against Torre, which has a nice finish.
