Hampshire recorded their first win of the season by beating Berkshire by the narrowest of margins (10.5-9.5).
We have had two very close matches against Berkshire this season as they beat us by the same scoreline earlier in the season.
Congratulations in particular to the Hampshire winners Khaled Esmat, Matt Ludbrook, Phil Barber, Gillian Moore, Roy Ashmore, Jon Young and Simon Redmill, playing for the team for the first time. We were outgraded by an average of 7 points overall, while Khaled, Matt and Phil were all outgraded by around 20 points, so this was an excellent win.

 Hampshire lost by the narrowest of margins to Berkshire at the weekend in the Chiltern u-180 league. This was a good performance as we were outgraded by an average of 9 points per board. I would like to applaud the battling spirit of the team in not agreeing many draws (only five draws). This was epitomized by Paul Holton, who refused a draw in a very drawn-looking ending (he went on to lose, sadly!). Congratulations to the Hampshire winners: Dominic Tunks, Matt Ludbrook, John Watts, Gillian Moore, Roy Ashmore, Gideon Gray and Julius Zwirner'.
